What we are looking for

We are looking for a versatile satellite operations software architect, with a real passion for building amazing space systems. The role offers you a unique opportunity to learn new things. You need to be comfortable expanding your horizon, gaining a broad technical and domain understanding.

You will work closely with our clients in engineering their ground segment solution based on the Leanspace software platform. You will lead the technical interaction with the clients, develop the solution architecture based on the Leanspace platform, and lead the delivery team to build the solution on time. You will lead the software architecture and delivery management of operational satellite control systems. You will need a good understanding of satellite operations, ground segment systems, software solutions, and a basic knowledge of DevOps.

In your daily job you will be the direct interface with the client, but you will always have the Leanspace team supporting you in the background. You are the person on the ground, but with a lot of capability behind you.

The role is in the USA. A US citizenship or green card is required. In addition you will have the opportunity to come to Strasbourg, France for an extended period of time (months) to get integrated in the team and learn the Leanspace platform. Over time, we will build a team of software engineers and space experts in the US, to work together to implement large projects for US-based customers.  You will be an anchor leader in our US team, helping us expand into the US market.





Your profile

Your experience matters:

We find that this role is suitable either for Space operations experts with an aerospace engineering background, or for Software solution architects who have experience developing software for the Space sector.  We are looking for someone who has:

  • Solution architecture, software engineering or a system engineering background.
  • Satellite operations experience, experience in the Space sector
  • Proven experience as a technical lead delivering complex software systems or solutions, leading a team of software or system engineers to deliver solutions on time.
  • Proven experience interacting with customers, understanding their requirements, scoping their solutions, resolving their issues.
  • Ground Segment Software systems experience (3+ years) — developing, architecting, supporting or using ground segment software.
  • Experience learning a new technology or product line in-depth, and then providing that knowledge to customers, to implement a new solution using that technology or product.
  • US citizen or green card holder.
  • Able to travel to France once/twice a year
  • AWS exposure

Extra awesome:

  • DevOps experience, in particular CI/CD experience
  • Strong experience with at least one programming language, including Java, javascript, python, and familiarity with others.
  • Experience with modern software technologies: REST APIs, databases, microservices, web user interfaces.
  • Recruiting and teambuilding experience (to help build our US team)
