Why does Leanspace exist?

There’s a huge disruption happening in the space industry:

Super strong growth, driven by a mix of commercialisation and militarisation, companies like SpaceX, making it far cheaper to go from launch to orbit, and satellites that are being built at scale through the standardization of platforms.

The next disruption in space is…software.

A disruption that promises to reduce costs and increase resilience for space programs.

Any delays to your mission are a gift to your adversaries!

Any delays to your mission are a gift to your adversaries! After working for 20 years in the satellite industry, we’ve found the main reasons for delays in space programs are:

  • Many space programs are managed with software from the 90s
  • Inability to leverage cloud technology, still relying on outdated “physical IT” strategies which cause data siloes and bottlenecks
  • Overburdened, frustrated software and operations teams struggling to adapt their tech stack and automate

The consequences of this are that it makes setting up a ground segment and running space missions painful, slow, costly, and risky.

Many startup companies are forced into unreliable, open-source or off-the-shelf solutions, jeopardizing their missions and their futures. Meanwhile, large space organisations remain trapped with legacy vendors; locked into expensive contracts, unable to innovate without massive investments, and increasingly at risk of becoming stagnant.

With global competitors investing heavily in new technologies, relying on outdated software and infrastructure means risking your advantage.

We don’t want to see this anymore. That's why we founded Leanspace.

In barely 5 years we have built a team of industry and software veterans to become a leading provider of ground segment solutions, able to compete head-to-head with the large incumbents, and have flight-proven our unique technology, the Leanspace software platform.

Across the entire ground segment, our technology has enabled our customers and partners to fundamentally change the way they operate. Moving them from rigid, hardware-focused setups to agile, fast-moving software companies.

Now, operating from the US and Europe, we’ve expanded rapidly across multiple verticals, helping space companies move faster and fly smarter.
